The River Dee is one of the most famous salmon fishing rivers in the world, with as many as 250 anglers on the river each day during the season. Visitors can choose to go on a guided tour, or set out on their own and explore the local rivers - River Dee or River Don, well known for being two of the greatest fishing rivers in Scotland.
The area is well known for the quality salmon which are available to fish between February and May each year. There are many opportunities for anglers in Ballater, from catching wild brown trout in the misty mountain lochs, to bagging salmon on the Dee or seeking rainbow trout in one of the many lochs close to Ballater.
