Nairn Golf Courses
Nairn is home to some of Scotland’s hidden gems of the golfing world, boasting spectacular views of the Moray Coast. Nairn offers golfers multiple challenging golf courses in the most desirable location. The variety of golf in the area provides the ideal destination for a golf break near Inverness.
Nairn itself has two golf clubs of its own, with many other courses nearby, such as Castle Stuart Golf Links, located between Nairn and Inverness, and the Kings Golf Club, in Inverness. There are plenty of links courses in and around Nairn due to the coastal, sandy landscape. Traditional links courses were designed and developed over the natural contours of the land, making Nairn an ideal location due to its many sand dunes, rolling grasslands and connection to the coast.
Nairn Golf Club
Nestled on the shores of the Moray Firth, Nairn Golf Club welcomes guests to visit and enjoy ‘The Nairn Experience’. Despite hosting the famous Walker Cup in 1999, the club’s courses remain some of Scotland’s undiscovered golf gems. The 18-hole Championship Course is a typical Scottish Links course, boasting deep bunkers and burns crossing the fairways and greens. This challenging course definitely tests the abilities of a golfer, where precision and technique are crucial for success. However the less challenging of the two courses, the 9-holed Cameron Course, provides a fun round of golf for families or a quicker round for those with less time on their hands.
While the two unique courses provide golfers with crisp Morayshire fairways and greens, the most memorable feature the club offers is the spectacular course backdrop. From every hole, golfers can experience unforgettable views of the Moray Firth and beyond to the Black Isle. You can’t go wrong with an enjoyable round of golf in an incredibly scenic location.
Nairn Dunbar Golf Club
Ranked ninth in the top 100 golf courses in the North of Scotland, Nairn Dunbar is a well-known 18-hole Championship Links Course. Situated in the sand dunes of Nairn’s East Beach, the variety of holes and fairways may challenge your abilities, but you are guaranteed to have a fun, exciting round of golf, with the Moray Firth providing spectacular scenery as you walk the course.
The eighteen holes stretch over 6765 yards, with a total par of 72. Known for its friendly and welcoming reception, along with its well-kept conditions, this is a popular destination for golfers and national golfing events, such as the Northern Open Professional Championship.
Castle Stuart Golf Links
Looking out over famous landmarks including Kessock Bridge and Chanonry Lighthouse, Castle Stuart Golf Links is a well-regarded golf course that attracts players from all across the world.
The history of the course only dates back to its opening in 2009, however, it has already hosted many well-regarded golfing events, including the European Tour’s Scottish Open, on four occasions. This popular golfing destination was designed to suit all golfing abilities; from those looking for a fun, engaging round, to those seeking to challenge their skills on every hole. No matter how experienced you are, this course truly caters to every ability; from a driveable par four to a more challenging par three, requiring the average golfer to use every club in their bag.
Kings Golf Club
Slightly further afield, but still only half an hour away from our Golf View hotel, is the Kings Golf Club. This brand new course only opened in 2019 following the redevelopment of the original Torvean Golf Club.
The club will provide you with all that you need for a great day out including a driving range and practice area to brush up on your skills before heading out to the 18-hole Championship Course to put your technique to the test.
