When is salmon fishing season for River Tummel?
Salmon fishing season opens on the 15th of January and finishes on the 15th of October each year.
You should be prepared to use a 14/15ft ft double-handed salmon fly rod with a floating line with a sink tip. Chest-high, studded boot waders and polaroid glasses are also essential, and a lifejacket is mandatory.

Do I need a license to Salmon fish in Scotland?
Yes and no, you do not need a license persay, however you must receive permission from the land owner or angling club, which is often referred to as a fishing permit. For the fishing on the River Tummel, you must request a fishing permit from the Pitlochry Angling Club.
