BREAKFAST

BALDRY’S TEA ROOM

For those who have decided to start their day a little later but still want to have a choice of delicious breakfast options, Baldry’s Tea Room is a great choice. As a quaint little tea room, there’s plenty to offer food and drink wise, including fresh, home-made baked goods, and they are also dog-friendly!

With simple snacks such as beans or goats cheese on toast, to delicious full breakfasts, there really is something for everyone. Many dishes are also gluten free!

The team are very passionate about using local produce, and much of the menu is created with the local area in mind. You’ll be getting a true taste of Grasmere, that’s for sure!

LUCIA’S

If you’re looking for a breakfast you can take away and enjoy out in the beautiful surroundings on a day trip in Grasmere, then we would definitely recommend taking a look at Lucia’s.

With choices of breakfast pastries such as croissants, tasty breakfast muffins, and even their locally-famous Cumberland sausage roll, it’s a great stop off to pick up a little something to eat before you begin your adventure.

Many people choose to take their food up the fells with them to enjoy at the top, and Lucia’s has the perfect menu for that. They also have a range of teas and coffees and cakes to choose from.

It’s also worth mentioning that Lucia’s is cash only – so make sure you have some on you!

You can find Lucia’s at College Street, Grasmere LA22 9SY

HEIDI'S OF GRASMERE

Heidi’s of Grasmere is a bright, open cafe with lots of food choices. From lighter bites to big, fuller meals, there’s something to suit everyone’s tastes and portion size.

However, even the small cooked breakfast is very generous, so you’re getting more for your money even if your eyes are set on a “small” plate. For those who prefer cereals for their start to the day, there’s also the option of a lovely bowl topped with fresh cold milk.

They’re dog-friendly, and your pooch has the chance of becoming “dog of the day” if you take them to visit!

With typical Lake District decor of natural materials, you’ll get the perfect feel for Grasmere while tucking into your mega breakfast, bacon baguette or scrambled egg at Heidi’s!

There are plenty of home-made cakes and pastries too for those with a sweet tooth!

The cafe is attached to Heaton Cooper’s Art Gallery and is a tribute to Cooper’s Norwegian wife, Mathilde – hence the Scandinavian overtones!

The menu is dotted with vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options, making it the ideal place for people who have special diets and who don’t want to have to search high and low for a dish to suit them.

There’s soup, curries, baguettes, hummus boards and more to choose from, as well as a whole array of hot and cold drinks and delicious desserts to choose from – again, with vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options!

There’s a certain peaceful ambience at Greens – we definitely recommend a visit.

It’s a great stop off for those looking for a lighter bite to eat at lunch, with an array of sandwiches, paninis, baked potatoes and soups, as well as the expected cakes and scones and pastries of a tea room. All the dishes are made with fresh produce, and the cakes are all clearly home-made.

Sitting outside, you have a beautiful view of St Oswald’s Church and the river running alongside the garden patio which has heaters for those cooler days, and the terrace is also dog-friendly!
