TOP TIPS FOR VISITING THE LAKE DISTRICT

If it’s your first time visiting the region, there are some things to consider before you arrive.

  1. The time of year – British weather is notoriously unpredictable, and the Lake District is no exception to this rule. In the winter months, expect to encounter rain, sleet and snow (especially on the tops of fells) and plan for wet weather in shoulder months, too. Raincoats, over trousers, hiking boots and thermal layers are a must!
  2. Your reason for visiting – Some people flock to the Lake District to revel in its awe-inspiring landscapes while climbing the national park’s highest peaks, while others visit for a chance to escape the business of city life. Whatever your reason, be sure to plan activities that will leave you feeling satisfied, rested and rejuvenated.
  3. Where you’ll stay – Being such a popular tourist destination, the Lake District is incredibly well-equipped for visitors, whether they’re day trippers, weekend away-ers or extended holiday-makers. You’ll find a fantastic selection of accommodation options, including self-catering holiday lets, B&Bs, glamping sites and luxury hotels. If a spot of self-care is what you’re looking for, book to stay at Daffodil Hotel and Spa. We have sensational facilities and offer indulgence as standard, meaning you can kick back and relax on the beautiful shores of Grasmere.
