Pitlochry is a walker’s paradise. With its excellent range of well-marked routes, from gentle strolls to challenging hikes. All the Pitlochry walks start and finish in the town centre and they are clearly marked with colour-coded sign posts. Covering an area of approximately 20 square miles, there are nearly 41 miles of tracks and paths taking you along rivers, crossing burns and roaming loch-side, through woodland and up hills, from where you can see some spectacular views.

To the north is Blair Atholl at the foot of Glen Tilt, one of the most beautiful glens in all Scotland and accessible only on foot. Blair Atholl is the northern end of Perthshire and further north is the Drumochter Pass. Heading west is Loch Rannoch, presided over by mighty Schiehallion, one of the most popular Munros; this region also gives access to the wilds of Rannoch Moor.

The glens here are bountiful, the mountains beckoning and the rivers magnificent.

Ben Vrackie

Just North of our village of Pitlochry, Ben Vrackie is one of the many Corbets of Scotland. Its summit is 841 metres high. This moderate-difficulty hike to the top and back to the car park takes between 3.5 to 5 hours, depending on your experience.

If you are lucky enough to experience the grandeur of this hike on a clear day, you can see across the village of Pitlochry, the rolling hills of Perthshire, and the crystal reflection of nearby lochs and rivers.

Loch Faskally Circuit

For those looking for a gentler walk, enjoy this circuit around Loch Faskally. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the loch beside you and the forest overhead, letting nature rejuvenate your senses.

Pass by the Pitlochry Salmon Ladder or stop in for a mid-walk lunch at Fonab Castle. With extraordinary views over the loch and forest beyond, it is the ideal place to take a rest during your walk and has a direct pathway up to its doorway from the circuit.
